Jeju Island bus fares: ordinary, express and airport limousine, plus the transfer rules
Numbers checked against the official source on 2026-10-19
A ride on an ordinary Jeju city or regional bus costs ₩1,150 for an adult with a transit card and ₩1,200 in cash, one flat fare for the whole trip. Express (rapid) buses are different: an adult card rider pays ₩2,000 on boarding and an extra distance fare, up to ₩1,000, when getting off, so a long ride tops out at ₩3,000 (cash riders always pay the ₩3,000 maximum). The two airport limousine routes are priced by distance: route 600 runs from ₩1,300 to ₩5,500 and route 800 from ₩1,300 to ₩5,000 for adults.
Fare table
This is the fare table printed on the Jeju Bus Information System (the province's official bus site), in KRW. "Adult" means age 19 and over, "teen" 13 to 18, and "child" 6 to under 13. Cash fares are the same or higher than card fares on every line.
| Route type | Adult | Teen | Child | Note | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Card | Cash | Card | Cash | Card | Cash | ||
| Trunk and branch buses (including tourist-sight circulation buses) | 1,150 | 1,200 | 850 | 900 | 350 | 400 | Flat fare |
| Express bus, base fare (covers 20 km), paid on boarding | 2,000 | 3,000 | 1,600 | 2,400 | 1,000 | 1,500 | Fare rises with distance |
| Express bus, maximum fare (over 40 km) | 3,000 | 3,000 | 2,400 | 2,400 | 1,500 | 1,500 | Cash riders pay the maximum |
| Village bus, Dongbok-ri | 950 | 1,000 | 750 | 800 | 350 | 400 | |
| Village bus, Chuja and Udo islands | 950 | 1,000 | 550 | 600 | 350 | 400 | |
Paying by transit card saves ₩50 on a trunk, branch or village bus compared with cash: the page lists a ₩50 discount against cash on those buses as a transit card advantage, which matches the table (₩1,200 − ₩1,150, derived arithmetic).
Express bus: the distance fare added when you get off
| Distance band as printed | Adult | Teen | Child |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 km | 200 | 160 | 100 |
| 10 km | 400 | 320 | 200 |
| 15 km | 600 | 480 | 300 |
| 20 km | 800 | 640 | 400 |
| Over 20 km | 1,000 | 800 | 500 |
The page does not spell out what the bands count from. They fit kilometres beyond the 20 km base, because the maximum-fare row is labelled "over 40 km" (20 km base plus over 20 km), but treat that as our reading, not an official statement. For an adult with a card the longest ride therefore costs ₩2,000 + ₩1,000 = ₩3,000 (derived arithmetic), the same as the maximum-fare row above. The page notes that express buses charge the maximum fare when you pay cash, so a cash rider does not get the shorter-ride saving. The page links a full express fare chart as a downloadable spreadsheet; we did not download it, so we do not list stop-by-stop express fares.
Airport limousine buses
| Route | What the airport page says | Adult fare range (ordinary basis) |
|---|---|---|
| 600 | Runs both ways between Jeju International Airport and Seogwipo Kal Hotel, serving the Jungmun resort hotels, the convention centre, Daepo, Gangjeong and the World Cup stadium on the way. | ₩1,300 to ₩5,500 |
| 800 (800-1) | Runs both ways between Jeju Terminal, Jeju International Airport and Seogwipo Terminal; unlike route 600 it does not go through Jungmun. | ₩1,300 to ₩5,000 |
The fare range is the one printed in the fare note ("일반 기준", meaning the ordinary adult basis). Stop-to-stop tables for both routes are offered only as spreadsheet downloads on the official site, so exact fares between particular stops are not reproduced here. On the transfer examples below, the page groups express and airport limousine buses together as one type with the ₩2,000 base fare.
How transfers work
The page presents the transfer discount as a transit card benefit: it covers prepaid transit cards (T-money, cashbee, mybi, Hanpay, Naeil Plus, One Pass and the like) and credit cards with a postpaid transit function. The page does not describe any transfer discount for cash payment.
- Time and count: within 40 minutes after you tag off, up to 2 transfers.
- Same route does not count: routes that show different route numbers on the bus display can be transferred between, for example 111 (towards Seongsan) and 112 (towards Jeju City). Two buses showing the same number, including the return direction of the same route, cannot, for example 111 to 111. For town branch routes and the tourist-sight circulation routes the first three digits before the dash are compared, so 702-1 to 702-2 is not a transfer.
- The discount amount: if the next bus fare is the same or lower than the previous one, the next ride is free. If it is higher, you pay only the difference (the discount equals the previous fare).
- Express buses: the distance fare is always collected on alighting, whatever the transfer discount. Between two express or limousine buses only the ordinary fare is discounted: ₩1,150 for adults, ₩850 for teens and ₩350 for children.
- Several people on one tag: allowed when boarding, but a transfer discount is given to only one person, for the highest ticket type.
- Teen and child discounts: the page says a prepaid card must first be registered with the card company's service centre to get teen or child fares.
| First bus | Second bus | First fare | Second fare paid | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Village bus | Trunk/branch bus | 950 | 200 | 1,150 |
| Village bus | Express / limousine | 950 | 1,050 | 2,000 |
| Trunk/branch bus | Village bus | 1,150 | 0 | 1,150 |
| Trunk/branch bus | Another trunk/branch bus | 1,150 | 0 | 1,150 |
| Trunk/branch bus | Express / limousine | 1,150 | 850 | 2,000 |
| Express / limousine | Village bus | 2,000 | 0 | 2,000 |
| Express / limousine | Trunk/branch bus | 2,000 | 0 | 2,000 |
| Express / limousine | Another express / limousine | 2,000 | 850 | 2,850 |
These examples show only the base fares; the extra distance fare on an express ride is added on top when you alight.
Who gets free rides
The page lists a Jeju transport welfare card that makes trunk, branch, tourist-circulation and village buses free (100% discount) for groups such as veterans, disabled people, Jeju-registered residents aged 65 and over, and Jeju-registered children aged 6 to 12. The seniors' and children's entries require a Jeju resident registration, so a visitor should not expect these to apply.
Common questions
Can a tourist use a normal Korean transit card?
Yes. The page names nationwide-compatible prepaid cards (T-money, cashbee, mybi and others), bought and topped up at convenience stores, and credit cards with a postpaid transit function.
Is the airport bus the same price as the city bus?
No. Limousine route 600 and 800 fares start at the ₩1,300 level and rise with distance to ₩5,500 and ₩5,000. See our Seoul fare page if you also need a mainland comparison.
The fare table prints no revision date; it was read on 2026-10-19 (the route booklet on the same page is dated as of 1 January 2026, which is a different document). Not covered here: stop-by-stop limousine and express fares (published as spreadsheets), timetables, and the full welfare card eligibility list.
