What the difference costs (derived arithmetic): to Terminal 1 the express fare is ₩13,000 − ₩4,750 = ₩8,250 more than the all-stop fare, and it saves 59 − 43 = 16 minutes. To Terminal 2 it is ₩13,000 − ₩5,350 = ₩7,650 more and saves 66 − 51 = 15 minutes. These come from the official figures, not from a specific departure: the official page says some all-stop trains take 2–6 minutes longer.

Two official pages, two child age bands. The All-Stop fare page says children are "Ages 6 – 13" and youths are "13 to 18 years old", so age 13 appears in both groups. The Express Train page says the child discount fare of ₩9,500 applies to "Age 6-12". If your child is 12 or 13, ask at the counter or the phone line printed on the official pages (+82-1599-7788) before you rely on either page.

How to buy, step by step

  1. Express: buy at the Express Train Customer Center — Seoul Station B2, or Transportation Center B1 at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 — or book on the AREX reservation site or app.
  2. All-stop with a single-journey card: buy from a ticket vending machine at the station; adults pay ₩100 more than the card fare plus a ₩500 deposit, refunded at the arrival station.
  3. All-stop with a prepaid transportation card: buy one at a convenience store or a transportation card vending machine; the page says prepaid cards can be reloaded at ticket vending machines.
  4. Check which terminal you need: the all-stop fare to Terminal 2 is ₩600 more than to Terminal 1 (₩5,350 − ₩4,750, derived arithmetic).

Common questions

Is the express train worth the extra fare?

On the official figures it is faster by 15–16 minutes and gives you a reserved seat. The all-stop train is the cheaper choice and the only one that serves the stations between Seoul Station and the airport, such as Hongik Univ. and Gimpo Int'l Airport.

Do the pages show a date?

No. The pages print no revision date; they were read on 2026-10-19. The AREX corporate site also carries fare-notice posters dated 2023-09-01 and 2024-12-13, but they are images and PDF files whose text could not be read, so none of the numbers above come from them.

Not covered here: timetables, partner hotels, City Airport Terminal check-in details, and the list of affiliate cards.
