Gyeonggi-do and Incheon city bus fares compared with Seoul: regular, express and M-bus
Numbers checked against the official source on 2026-10-19
On a Gyeonggi-do regular city bus an adult pays ₩1,650 by transit card (₩1,700 cash); on an Incheon trunk bus it is ₩1,500 by card (₩1,600 cash); on a Seoul blue or green bus it is ₩1,500. Wide-area express buses cost more: ₩3,200 on a Gyeonggi direct-seat or wide-area express bus, ₩3,200 on an Incheon M-bus, ₩3,000 on an Incheon direct-seat bus and ₩3,000 on a Seoul red bus. If you tap your card on boarding and again when you get off, a transfer between buses in all three areas is charged by total distance, not as a new fare each time.
Gyeonggi-do city bus fares
The Gyeonggi Province bus-fare page prints a table headed "city bus fares ('25.10.25.)", in won. Gyeonggi raised these fares from the first bus on 25 October 2025, the first rise since September 2019, by ₩200 for regular and seat buses and ₩400 for direct-seat and circulation buses, according to the province's press release dated 22 October 2025.

- Who is a youth or child: the page ties the youth rate to a middle- or high-school student card (ages 13 to 18) and the child rate to a child card (ages 6 to 12).
- Under 6: up to three children under 6 ride free with a guardian; a child beyond the third pays the child fare. The page adds that infants are fully exempt even when they want a seat assigned.
- Cash costs more and loses the transfer discount: the province's Q&A says cash users cannot get the transfer discount and pay up to ₩100 more than card users on buses, subway and village buses.
- How the fare is worked out: a regular bus uses the base fare for the first 10 km, then ₩100 for each extra 5 km up to 40 km, and ₩100 only beyond 40 km. Seat and direct-seat buses charge the base fare for a single ride regardless of distance. The wide-area express and circulation buses use the base fare for 30 km, then ₩100 per 5 km up to 60 km, and ₩100 only beyond that.
Incheon city bus fares
Incheon's bus information system lists the "basic fare table" below, in won. It notes that the wide-area express (M-bus) fare rose on 25 October 2025 and that route 3000 has used the direct-seat fare since 1 August 2025.
| Bus type | Adult card | Adult cash | Youth card / cash | Child card / cash |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trunk (간선형) | 1,500 | 1,600 | 1,050 / 1,100 | 600 / 600 |
| Branch (지선형) | 1,200 | 1,300 | 850 / 900 | 500 / 500 |

| Seat bus to Yeongjong (영종행); Yeongjong-only rides in brackets | 1,900 (1,500) | 2,600 (1,600) | 1,350 (1,050) / 1,800 (1,100) | 800 (600) / 1,000 (600) |
| Wide-area direct-seat (광역버스, 직행좌석) | 3,000 (2,400) | 3,000 | 1,650 (1,320) / 1,650 | 1,200 (960) / 1,200 |
| M-bus, wide-area express (M버스) | 3,200 (2,800) | 3,200 | 2,300 (2,000) / 2,300 | 1,600 (1,400) / 1,600 |
| Wide-area trunk express, BRT (7700) | 2,600 | 2,600 | 1,600 / 1,600 | 1,200 / 1,200 |
| Late-night (심야) | 1,900 | 2,600 | 1,350 / 1,800 | 800 / 1,000 |
- Airport coach exception: routes 6770 (Gwangmyeong Station) and 6777 / 6777-1 (Incheon Airport) are footnoted at ₩8,000 for adults and youth and ₩5,000 for children, as a single airport-bus fare. See our airport limousine page for the airport buses.
- Distance rules: trunk and branch buses charge by distance when you transfer (10 km base, then ₩100 per 5 km up to 40 km, then ₩100 beyond 40 km). Seat buses use the same 10 km / 40 km steps regardless of transfer. Wide-area and M-buses use 30 km base, ₩100 per 5 km up to 60 km, then ₩100 beyond.
- M-bus early-morning fare: the page says a pure 20% cut would be ₩2,600 but ₩2,800 is applied "in consideration of fairness with the Gyeonggi direct-seat fare".
- Children: up to 3 children under 6 travelling with a passenger ride free (unless a seat is requested, per Incheon's page).
Seoul vs Gyeonggi vs Incheon
| Kind of bus | Seoul | Gyeonggi-do | Incheon |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular city bus | 1,500 (trunk blue / branch green) | 1,650 (regular) | 1,500 (trunk), 1,200 (branch) |
| Local village bus | 1,200 | 1,350 to 1,650 depending on city | Not tabulated here |
| Seat bus | Not listed | 2,650 | 1,550 (to other provinces) |
| Wide-area direct-seat / red bus | 3,000 (rapid, red) | 3,200 (direct-seat) | 3,000 (direct-seat) |
| Wide-area express (M-bus) | Not listed | 3,200 | 3,200 |
| Late-night | 2,500 (owl bus) | Not listed | 1,900 |
| Early-morning discount (card, before 06:30) | 20% off, not for owl buses | Yes, regular 1,450; direct-seat 2,800 | Wide-area and M-bus only: 20% off (M-bus set to 2,800) |
The gap between the three areas is largest for a direct-seat or red bus: ₩3,000 in Seoul and Incheon against ₩3,200 in Gyeonggi-do, a ₩200 difference (derived arithmetic). A regular bus in Gyeonggi-do now costs ₩150 more than in Seoul or on an Incheon trunk line (derived arithmetic: 1,650 minus 1,500). Gyeonggi-do's village-bus fare is set by each city, between ₩1,350 and ₩1,650 on the province's own range.
Transferring between Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and Incheon
All three areas take part in the metropolitan integrated fare system. The Gyeonggi Q&A describes it like this: when you change between city bus, subway and village bus, up to 4 transfers (5 boardings) are recognised and you are charged only for the total distance travelled. The rules the province lists:
- Tap on boarding and again when you get off. Without the second tap the distance cannot be worked out, and the unpaid base fare is added to your next boarding.
- Board the next vehicle within 30 minutes of tapping off (within 1 hour between 21:00 and 07:00).
- Do not re-board the same route: the transfer discount is not applied when you ride the same route again.
- Use a card, not cash. Cash cannot get the transfer discount.
- Prepaid cards need a balance: at least ₩250 to board when transferring.
- Carry one card only; two cards together at the reader can charge twice or cancel the transfer.
Which vehicles count: Gyeonggi regular, seat, direct-seat and village buses, Seoul trunk, branch, circulation, wide-area and village buses, Incheon trunk, branch, seat and wide-area buses, the metropolitan rail lines, GTX-A and the Han River bus. Intercity and express buses and ordinary KORAIL trains are not covered (see express and intercity bus fares).
Worked examples from the province's page
| Trip | Before | With integrated fare | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Direct-seat bus (20 km, ₩3,200) then Seoul trunk or branch bus (9 km, ₩1,500) | 4,700 | 3,200 | Total 29 km, within the 30 km base distance |
| Direct-seat bus (20 km) then Gyeonggi regular bus (9 km) | 4,850 | 3,200 | Total 29 km, base fare only |
| Direct-seat bus (20 km) then Gyeonggi regular bus (14 km) | 4,850 | 3,300 | 34 km total: 3,200 for 30 km plus ₩100 for the extra 4 km |
| Gyeonggi regular bus (5 km), Seoul trunk bus (7 km), direct-seat bus (25 km) | 6,350 | 3,400 | 37 km total: 3,200 plus ₩200 for 7 km |
| Regular bus (4 km) then regular bus (6 km) | 3,300 | 1,650 | 10 km total, base fare only |
The province states the saving for the first example as ₩1,500 and for the third as ₩1,550. The "before" column is simply the two fares added together.

Common questions
Can I pay a Gyeonggi-do bus in cash?
Yes, but cash costs ₩50 more on a regular bus (₩1,700 against ₩1,650, derived arithmetic) and you lose the transfer discount. Buying a transit card at a convenience store is the way the province recommends.
Does the Seoul transfer discount work on a Gyeonggi-do or Incheon bus?
Yes, provided you pay by card and tap when you get off. The province's example shows a direct-seat bus plus a Seoul trunk bus charged at ₩3,200 instead of ₩4,700 when the whole trip is under 30 km.
The Seoul figures on this page come from a fare table dated 2023; the Gyeonggi-do table is dated 25 Oct 2025; the Incheon table was read on 2026-10-19 and carries the 25 Oct 2025 M-bus change. Not covered: village-bus tables by city, intercity (jikhaeng) bus per-kilometre rates, and refund programmes for residents.
